Ideal for Burial Situations

Ecologico Cardboard Coffins are ideal for burial and are far less impactful to the soil environment than chipboard coffins. Our Box-lid designed cardboard coffin is best suited for burial situations as it can withstand the load of soil placed on top of it, in the grave.

Being manufactured from totally plant based materials (cotton rope handles are also used) and apart from the mandatory plastic liner, our coffins are biodegradable and compostable in the right soil conditions. Our coffins will breakdown in a much shorter time period than a chipboard wooden coffin, allowing for natural decomposition of a deceased body to take place, sooner and more naturally.

Our cardboard coffins will not add to ground water pollution, which can be an issue with chipboard coffins. Harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde and other chemical binders from chipboard are known to leach into ground water and contaminate the water table.

The faster and more natural decomposition of a deceased body with a cardboard coffin can allow grave sites to be re-used at a much higher rate, as the deceased body decomposes much faster, optimising cemetery spacing and planning.
